Cyanotype image created in my Mooloolaba studio. This design was made with the seahorse outline over which I embedded a photograph I captured of the base of a fountain at Raffles Hotel in Singapore, to give the effect of the seahorse having scales or texture on its body. The resulting negative I used to create a cyanotype of the image and used a white cotton fabric for the cyanotype.
Cyanotype is also called solar printing, using the sun's light to create a negative image on paper (or other surfaces). The paper I have used here is 300gsm watercolour paper.
The frame measures 43cm x 53cm x 2.7cm. The actual fabric artwork is 29.5cmw x 39cmH.
